"Watering Cougar-sketch"
"This is a scene from Zion National Park in Southwestern
Utah. Specifically, this is the charcoal “under-sketch” I am
publishing as a pigment print (aka giclée) on paper in small
limited-edition. By under-sketch I mean, that this image was
literally drawn in on my painting support in preparation for
a subsequent painting. Within the next several months I plan
to paint over this image to produce a new oil painting-thus
obliterating this sketch. I (and others) liked the way
this under-sketch looked in black and white so I decided to
do the edition. The image area is 16 x 12“ with a 2” white
border on 3 sides and a 3” border on the bottom (so approx.
21 x 16 total). There are 30 numbered pieces in
the edition with 5 A/Ps (Artists Proofs)."
